Our Lady of Aparecida, also called (portuguese) Nossa Senhora da Conceição  Aparecida, is very celebrated in Brazil and is the official patron of the country. The story tells that fishermen in the region where the image was found were having difficulties in fishing, they prayed to the Virgin Mary and to God to help them. They were almost giving up when they found a broken statue of Our Lady of the Conception, as soon as the fishermen put the head to the body of the statue, it became so heavy that they could no longer carry it alone. Soon after, the fishermen managed to catch so many fish that they returned earlier with the risk that the volume of fishing would sink the boats.
